Plot Summary: Sometimes a film makes history; it doesn't just document it. So it is with "Granito: How to Nail a Dictator," the astonishing new film by Pamela Yates. Part political thriller, part memoir, Yates transports us back in time through a riveting, haunting tale of genocide and returns to the present with a cast of characters joined by destiny and the quest to bring a malevolent dictator to justice. As if a watchful Maya god were weaving back together threads of a story unraveled by the passage of time, forgotten by most, our characters become integral to the overarching narrative of wrongs done and justice sought that they have pieced together, each adding their granito, their tiny grain of sand, to the epic tale.

After giving three consecutive hits of Golmaal series this time Rohit Shetty comes up with an action flick. The Ajay Devgn - Rohit Shetty team started with action films like Zameen, Phool Aur Kaante and with Singham they go back to their roots again.

Set in the backdrop of Shivgad, a small village on the border of Maharashtra and Goa, 'Singham' unfolds the story of an honest and attentive cop Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn), who fights against injustice and prejudice with his own ethics and principles.

However, Singham's life turns around with the entry of powerful criminal-cum-politician Jaykant Shikre (Prakash Raj). The destiny brings Singham and Shikre in front of each other challenging Singham's morals and beliefs.

Shikre, who rules Goa, leaves no stone unturned to make Singham's life a nightmare. But it's Singham's supportive girlfriend Kavya (Kajal Aggarwal) and his tryst with late Rakesh Kadam's family that makes Singham realise the importance to bring a change in the system and eradicate the root cause Jaykant Shikre, by not going against the law of force, but by being a powerful part of it.

Performance wise, Ajay is top notch. He gets into the skin of the character and delivers a superfine performance. Kajal has not much scope in the film yet she makes her presence felt. Prakash Raj is terrific. He is brilliant in his role. Rest of the cast is equally supportive.

On the whole, Singham is an excellent masala film. Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn's team become superhit once again. The film will really do a good business at box-office.

Movie Report

Delhi Belly is a film directed by Abhinay Deo. Aamir Khan is one of the producers of Delhi Belly. He has also given a special appearance in the film. The film has several gross scenes but all these scenes manage to evoke laughter.

The film reveals the story of Tashi [Imran Khan], a Delhi-based journalist living filthily with two roommates Arup [Vir Das] and Nitin [Kunal Roy Kapur]. The three are forced to navigate the dark underbelly to survive, while encountering one situation after another and one idiosyncratic Indian after another. Tashi is to get married in a month to the glamorous Sonia [Shenaz Treasury].

One day, Sonia gives Tashi a packet to be delivered at an address. She is unaware that the packet contains very expensive diamonds and that she has been used as a carrier to smuggle them into the country for delivering to a don (Vijay Raaz). Not aware of the contents of the packet, Tashi casually asks Nitin to deliver it. But Nitin further asks Arup, equally casually, to deliver the packet and also to take his stool sample for testing at the pathological laboratory. As luck would have it, Arup delivers the diamonds packet at the laboratory, and the stool sample at the address of the don.

The don [Vijay Raaz] is shocked when he gets the wrong packet. He starts torturing Tashi and Arup, who are then at home, so that they can return the diamonds. As luck would have it, Nitin gets the diamonds just then, as the laboratory returns the toy to him when he goes there for medical assistance. On seeing the diamonds, the don is happy but he now wants to kill the three friends for fear that they would complain to the police about the smuggled diamonds.

The three friends escape from there and also take away the diamonds with them. They sell the expensive diamonds to a jeweller [Rajendra Sethi] for a fat sum of money but are soon informed that Sonia has been held captive by the don. The trio now has no choice but to go back to the jeweller to return the cash and get back the diamonds. However, the jeweller now asks for a much higher price for the same diamonds. What happens next forms the rest part of the film.

Performance wise, Imran Khan is outstanding. Vir das is unbelievable. Kunal Roy Kapoor is astonishing. Shenaz acts very well this time. Poorna is mind blowing she enacts her part very beautifully. Vijay Raaz as don is brilliant. Rest of the cats is equally supportive.

On the whole, Delhi Belly is a comic fare. The film is mainly targeted at youth audience. Don't miss it.
